BREAKING: Embattled Kwara Lawmaker Saba Yisa Gideon Resigns from APC, Joins PDP
Embattled Kwara lawmaker, Hon. Saba Yisa Gideon, member representing Edu Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gideon’s resignation was reported on Thursday, August 27, 2026, with reports indicating that the lawmaker has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The development comes months after Gideon’s suspension by the Kwara State House of Assembly over allegations relating to the recording and sharing of proceedings from a closed-door meeting.
A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin subsequently nullified the suspension and ordered his reinstatement, declaring the suspension unconstitutional, unlawful and void.
Gideon was elected on the platform of the APC to represent Edu Constituency in the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly.
His resignation from the ruling party is expected to generate further political reactions in Edu and across Kwara North.
