BREAKING: Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi Land Regains Freedom After Five Days In Captivity

 


The Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi Land in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, has regained his freedom five days after he was abducted by armed bandits.

The monarch was reportedly released by his abductors on Thursday, August 27, 2026, according to a source who spoke to Afrika Eyes.

Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I was abducted when armed men invaded Igbesi community in Oke-Onigbin town at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22.

The attackers reportedly seized the monarch and whisked him away to an unknown location, throwing residents into panic.

A source confirmed his release on Thursday, saying the traditional ruler was freed about two hours before the report was published.

The source also said no ransom was paid for his release.

“The Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi Land has been released today,” the source said.

The release comes five days after the monarch was taken into captivity and amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Kwara South.

Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I is the traditional ruler of Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.
