A civic movement known as the One Kwara Agenda (O.K.A) has been launched in Ilorin with a call for unity, fairness, and merit-based leadership across Kwara State.

Speaking at the unveiling held at the NUJ Secretariat, the convener, Dr. Femi A. Adetola, said the platform was created to address growing ethnic, religious, and regional divides threatening the state’s development.

The platform urged political actors to stop “weaponising diversity” and instead campaign on ideas and policies. It called on citizens to reject identity politics, demanding competence and fairness from leaders.

Dr. Adetola appealed to traditional and religious leaders to act as “bridges, not barricades”, and tasked the media with shaping narratives that foster unity rather than division.

He noted that O.K.A would champion fairness, inclusivity, and governance competence while discouraging divisive politics and identity-based campaigns. The group also plans to hold civic engagements, publish policy papers, and train young leaders to embrace meritocracy and justice.

Dr. Adetola urged politicians to “campaign on ideas, not on fear or ancestry,” while calling on citizens to reject identity politics. He further appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the media to play unifying roles in strengthening social cohesion.

The One Kwara Agenda is not just a slogan but a generational responsibility and political necessity,” he said. “We must rise above division because our shared future depends on it.
