Suspected Bandits Attack Yashikira Community, Abduct Emir’s Family Members.

Residents of Yashikira community in Kwara North were thrown into fear and confusion in the early hours of Monday following a reported attack by suspected bandits who allegedly invaded the town and abducted several residents, including members of the Emir’s family.

According to information gathered by NupekoTV, the attack reportedly started around 12:40am on Monday, May 25, 2026, and continued for several hours as gunshots echoed across different parts of the community.

Sources within the town disclosed that the armed attackers stormed the palace area, where they allegedly set some vehicles ablaze and vandalized parts of the Emir’s residence, including rooms within the palace compound.

Residents said the incident forced many families to flee their homes in search of safety as panic spread across the community during the operation.

Community sources further revealed that several persons were abducted during the attack, including some wives and children of the Emir, alongside other residents living around the palace vicinity.

The incident has heightened tension and anxiety among residents, who are now calling on security agencies and government authorities to urgently intervene and strengthen security presence in the area.

Speaking with NupekoTV, some concerned residents appealed to the military, police, and other security operatives to intensify rescue efforts and prevent further attacks on the community.

“We urgently appeal to the relevant authorities to come to our aid, rescue the abducted victims, and restore peace to Yashikira,” a resident said.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from security authorities confirming the exact number of abducted persons or possible casualties recorded during the attack.
