BRUTAL MURDER IN KWARA: Family Demands Justice for Slain Farmer Found Tied and Killed in Bush

Daughter of Abdulazeez Abubakar Abiodun (Kebe) recounts horrific discovery, calls on authorities and public to help bring perpetrators to justice

My name is Abdulazeez Rofiat, the second daughter of Abdulazeez Abubakar Abiodun, popularly known as “Kebe.” I write on behalf of my siblings and the entire Abubakar family to share the tragic and painful story of our father’s death, in the hope that it reaches the right authorities and leads to justice.

On the morning of July 11, 2026, our father left our home in Isalu, Isin Local Government Area, Kwara State, at approximately 7:00 a.m. to visit his cocoa farm located in Owa-Onire, within the same local government. Farming was his primary source of livelihood and part of his daily routine. Given that the farm is approximately two hours away, we expected him to return later that day.

However, as the day progressed and he did not return home, we became increasingly worried. Repeated attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful. Concerned for his safety, we alerted local hunters in our community and sought their assistance in locating him.

Upon arrival at the farm, the hunters discovered his motorcycle parked, but our father was nowhere to be found. This immediately raised alarm, and we feared he may have been kidnapped. We waited anxiously, expecting a ransom call, but none came.

The hunters continued their search into the surrounding bush. After an extensive search, they made a horrifying discovery far from where the motorcycle had been found—our father’s lifeless body. His hands had been tied, and he had been brutally murdered.

The loss of our father under such cruel and violent circumstances has left our family devastated. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a hardworking man who left home that morning only to provide for his family—but never returned.

Days have passed since this tragic incident, yet the pain remains overwhelming. While we grieve, we are also demanding justice. We urge the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this case, identify those responsible, and ensure that they are held accountable and brought to justice.

We respectfully appeal to journalists, bloggers, human rights organisations, community leaders, and security agencies to amplify this story and help ensure that this case does not go unnoticed.

Our father deserves justice. Our family deserves answers. We will not relent until those responsible are held accountable.

Justice for Abdulazeez Abubakar Abiodun (Kebe).
