Six Months After Woro Attack: Kaiama Residents Protest, Demand Rescue of 176 Abductees
Residents of Kaiama Local Government Area on Friday staged a peaceful protest in Kaiama town, calling for urgent government intervention to secure the release of 176 people abducted during the February 2 attack on Woro village.
The demonstration drew participation from community members and leaders, including the Village Head of Woro, Alhaji Umar Bio Salihu, who urged both federal and Kwara State authorities to intensify efforts toward rescuing the victims.
He lamented that families of the abducted have remained in deep distress for nearly six months without any communication or progress, describing the situation as unbearable for the affected community.
The February attack, one of the deadliest in the area, reportedly left over 300 people killed, while the abductors later released videos confirming that the 176 victims are still in captivity.
Protesters marched through major streets in Kaiama carrying placards, demanding swift action, improved security presence, and a coordinated rescue operation to end the prolonged ordeal.
