Kwara Poly Expels 42 Students After Examination Malpractice Investigation

Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has expelled 42 students after they were found guilty of examination malpractice following investigations by the institution’s Examination Malpractice Committee.

The affected students comprise 31 Higher National Diploma (HND) and 11 National Diploma (ND) students drawn from various institutes and programmes within the Polytechnic.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued and signed by the Principal Assistant Registrar, Academic Board Matters Division, Mr Ibrahim Esin. According to the statement, the students were found guilty of the allegations against them after due investigation by the Examination Malpractice Committee.

The Polytechnic said the offences committed by the affected students were against the Matriculation Oath they had sworn to uphold as students of the institution. Their expulsion was approved in accordance with the provisions of the institution’s Students’ Handbook.

A categories of the affected students showed that 23 were from the Institute of Finance and Management Studies (IFMS), while eight were from the Institute of Technology (IOT). Following the approval of the disciplinary action, the 42 students have ceased to be students of Kwara State Polytechnic.

The development highlights the Polytechnic’s enforcement of its disciplinary regulations in dealing with examination malpractice and other forms of academic misconduct.
