Driver Borrows ₦3.5m to Back Tinubu’s Re-Election, Two other Politicians
An Ado-Ekiti-based mini-truck driver, Adeleye Adeniyi, has disclosed that he borrowed a total of ₦3.5 million to support the political ambitions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and two other politicians ahead of future elections.
Adeniyi, popularly known as “Online Loan Man for BAO,” made the disclosure while speaking to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. He explained that despite earning a modest income from driving a mini-truck, he decided to obtain loans to support the politicians he believes have made positive contributions to the country and Ekiti State.
According to him, the money comprises ₦2 million for President Tinubu’s re-election campaign, ₦1 million for Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, and ₦500,000 for Hon. Steve Fatoba.
Adeniyi said his decision to support Tinubu was influenced by what he described as the Federal Government’s achievements in infrastructure and education. He reportedly cited road reconstruction, ongoing federal projects and the student loan scheme as some of the reasons he believes the President deserves another term in office.
His disclosure has drawn attention to the extent some political supporters are willing to go to demonstrate loyalty to their preferred candidates. However, the reported decision to borrow millions of naira for political campaigns also raises questions about the financial risks individuals may face when using loans to fund political activities.
