NACCIMA, NOA Explore Partnership to Promote Nigeria’s Image Abroad
The National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has proposed a strategic partnership with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to promote patriotism, responsible communication and a positive image of Nigeria internationally.
The proposal was discussed during an engagement between a NACCIMA delegation and the Director-General of NOA, Mr Lanre Issa-Onilu, at a meeting tagged “An Evening with the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency” in Abuja in October 2026.
The engagement focused on the need to encourage Nigerians at home and abroad to represent the country responsibly in their interactions with the international community, particularly as Nigeria seeks to strengthen its diplomatic relations, attract foreign investment and expand international trade.
Representing NACCIMA National President, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, at the meeting were the association’s China Relations Executive, Arc. Zakirudeen Oladotun; National Public Relations Officer, Hajia Madinat Adigun-Oladotun; and communications specialist, Mr Ismail Omipidan.
NACCIMA expressed concern over the circulation of misleading information, alleged blackmail of international partners and irresponsible public statements that could damage Nigeria’s international reputation and economic interests.
The association stressed that citizens have a collective responsibility to protect the country’s image and promote constructive engagement with other nations.
It also commended Issa-Onilu for his leadership at the NOA, particularly the agency’s efforts to promote patriotism, citizenship values and national reorientation among young Nigerians.
According to the association, the agency’s initiatives have helped strengthen public awareness of civic responsibilities and government policies.
NACCIMA said it was looking forward to working with the NOA to develop public enlightenment programmes on responsible international engagement, national image management and cultural diplomacy.
The proposed campaign is expected to involve business communities, young people, media practitioners, professional associations and other stakeholders in promoting a more informed and constructive representation of Nigeria.
The association noted that the country’s international reputation remains an important factor in attracting foreign investors, establishing business partnerships and creating new markets for Nigerian goods and services.
It added that stronger collaboration between relevant institutions and citizens would help promote a positive national narrative while supporting Nigeria’s economic and diplomatic objectives.
The meeting marked an initial step towards establishing a common approach to encouraging Nigerians to demonstrate patriotism, responsibility and cultural awareness in their dealings with the international community.
