Tinubu Signs Bill Converting Kaduna Polytechnic into Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed a bill upgrading the Federal Polytechnic, Kaduna, to the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Kaduna.
The development was announced on Friday by Daniel Amos, the lawmaker representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, who commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, for sponsoring the bill.
Amos praised Abbas for his role in facilitating the legislation, describing his leadership as a demonstration of commitment to educational advancement and national development.
“Speaker Tajudeen’s leadership on this bill demonstrates purposeful commitment to education and national development,” Amos said.
The conversion is expected to strengthen technical and vocational education, expand academic opportunities and promote skills development in technology-related fields.
The transition will require appropriate implementation arrangements to ensure the institution's smooth operation under its new university status.
Amos also disclosed that Tinubu had signed a separate bill establishing the Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies in Yaba, Lagos, as part of efforts to advance specialised higher education in the country.
