A coalition of support groups has presented a detailed account of achievements to justify its endorsement of the Chairman of the Governing Council of the NHIA, Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, for the Governorship of Kwara State in 2027. They describe his record as “clear, measurable, and unmatched within the context of legislative representation in Kwara State.”
The group observed that within just four years in the Senate—one of which coincided with the global COVID-19 lockdown that slowed down economic activities and governance 8systems worldwide—Oloriegbe delivered outcomes that have become benchmarks for public officeholders.
They highlighted his facilitation of major federal institutions, including the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Budo-Egba, the NHIA State/Zonal office, and NAFDAC facilities in Kwara.
According to the coalition, these institutions have not only improved access to healthcare and regulatory services but also created employment, attracted professionals, and boosted economic activity in their host communities.
At the grassroots level, the coalition detailed a wide range of interventions. Several Primary Health Care Centres were constructed, renovated, and equipped to improve healthcare delivery, while schools across several communities benefited from infrastructural upgrades, provision of learning materials, and improved classroom environments.
They further noted that water supply schemes were extended to underserved communities, while rural electrification projects enhanced economic activities and living standards. These efforts, they said, addressed critical development gaps often overlooked in conventional governance frameworks.
In addition, empowerment initiatives targeted thousands of beneficiaries across various groups—youths, women, artisans, and vulnerable persons—through skills acquisition, tools distribution, and financial support.
The coalition also emphasised his facilitation of over 350 federal employment opportunities for Kwarans across MDAs, describing it as a direct intervention in tackling unemployment and economic vulnerability.
“These are not promises; they are results,” the group stated, adding that such performance at the constituency level indicates even greater potential at the state level.
They therefore urge critical stakeholders within the party and beyond to rally support for the former lawmaker in the interest of fostering and accelerating further development in the state after Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s tenure ends in 2027.
