Embattled LADDU National PRO Breaks Silence Over Resignation Rumours
Communicator, who has recently been at the center of public discussions following his role in the February protest against the incessant killings in Kwara North, addressed what he described as sustained direct and indirect attempts to discredit him before the public.
Usman Haruna, popularly known as Communicator, has broken his silence amid growing rumours surrounding his alleged resignation from the National Executive of the Lafiagi Descendants' Development Union (LADDU).
Communicator, who has recently been at the center of public discussions following his role in the February protest against the incessant killings in Kwara North, addressed what he described as sustained direct and indirect attempts to discredit him before the public.
The embattled National Public Relations Officer clarified that his participation in the protest was purely personal and not carried out under the umbrella of LADDU or any other association, union or affiliated body.
According to him, the protest was neither sponsored nor politically motivated, adding that he joined other concerned voices to condemn the senseless killings and draw more attention of authorities to the worsening security situation in Kwara North.
“I never protested under the umbrella of any association or union. I exercised my personal right and liberty to join other voices in speaking against the killings in our communities. Nobody should attempt to tag it otherwise,” he said.
The social media influencer further stated that speaking up for one’s people should not attract intimidation or public attacks.
“If speaking up for my community will make me a target, then so be it. Everyone should be allowed to live by their personal convictions without constant attempts to castigate or tarnish them before the public,” he added.
He also called on individuals allegedly behind repeated invitations and pressure tactics to allow him some peace, stressing that unnecessary disturbances and persistent meeting invitations should stop.
The statements come amid heightened speculation over his position within the organisation, although he neither confirmed nor denied the resignation rumours.
The controversy follows months after the Kwara North protest which drew widespread attention across the state and beyond.
