Apapa APC Primary: Stakeholders Reject Alleged Imposition, Demand Recognition of Jimsam as Authentic Winner
Concerned stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Apapa Federal Constituency have called on the national leadership of the party to review the outcome of the House of Representatives primary election, insisting that Dr Adedayo Adesola Jimsam emerged as the authentic winner of the exercise.
In a statement addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the stakeholders described their appeal as a call for justice, due process, and the protection of internal democracy within the ruling party.
According to the group, Dr Jimsam secured more than 1,500 votes in Ward H during the primary election, a result they said reflected the overwhelming support he enjoys among delegates and party faithful in the constituency.
The stakeholders maintained that the Local Government APC Primary Election Committee reviewed the process and did not dispute the outcome recorded in Ward H. They further noted that the committee's report affirmed the credibility of the votes cast and the widespread acceptance of Dr Jimsam among party members.
They also claimed that further ward primaries were not conducted in some parts of the constituency because of what they described as Dr Jimsam's "massive and indisputable support base" across Apapa Federal Constituency.
The statement further alleged that elections were not held in three of the ten wards that make up the constituency, including Ijora Oloye Ward E. According to the stakeholders, reports from party monitors and other stakeholders indicated that the absence of elections in those wards reinforced the committee's findings and reflected the lack of opposition to Dr Jimsam's candidacy.
The group referenced comments by Hon. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo regarding unresolved issues arising from the APC primary process in two local government areas of Lagos State. While acknowledging that Apapa was not among the councils specifically mentioned, the stakeholders argued that the constituency presents a separate case deserving urgent attention and review.
Based on available records, committee findings, and ward-level reports, the stakeholders contended that Hon. Egberogbe Adewale was not the rightful winner of the APC primary election for the Apapa Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat.
They maintained that Dr Jimsam remains the preferred candidate of delegates and party members, adding that his mandate was validated by votes cast in contested wards and supported by findings from party oversight structures.
The stakeholders therefore appealed to the National Executive Committee and Lagos State Executive Committee of the APC to review the primary election report, uphold due process, and recognise Dr Adedayo Adesola Jimsam as the party's authentic flagbearer for the 2027 House of Representatives election in Apapa Federal Constituency.
They argued that affirming what they described as the people's choice would strengthen party unity, boost confidence among members, and improve the APC's chances in future elections.
The statement concluded with a call for fairness and transparency, urging the party leadership to protect the integrity of its internal democratic processes and ensure that mandates freely given by delegates are respected.
