NALES Demands Urgent Rescue of Abducted Student, Calls on Kwara Government and Security Agencies to Act.

The National Association of Lafiagi Emirate Students (NALES) National Headquarters has called for the immediate rescue of one of its members, Mohammed Aishat, who was abducted by suspected bandits during an attack in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
In a press release dated June 14, 2026, the association expressed deep concern over the continued captivity of the student, noting that more than two weeks have passed since she was kidnapped following an attack in which her father was reportedly killed.

NALES described the incident as heartbreaking and unacceptable, warning that the prolonged captivity of the student raises serious concerns about the safety of lives and property within communities across the Lafiagi Emirate.

The association appealed to the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Chairman of Edu Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Muhammed Kudu Kawu, and all relevant security agencies to intensify efforts aimed at securing her safe release.

According to the statement, students can no longer remain silent while one of their colleagues remains in the custody of her abductors, stressing the need for urgent intervention and a coordinated rescue operation.

NALES further urged the relevant authorities to demonstrate commitment to the protection of citizens by acting swiftly, arguing that delays in resolving the matter have continued to deepen fear and anxiety within the community.

The association also expressed solidarity with the family of Mohammed Aishat, pledging to continue advocating for her safe return and justice for the family.

In addition, NALES called on community leaders, stakeholders, and members of the public to lend their voices to the campaign for the student's release.

The statement was signed by the National President of NALES, Mohammed Haruna Kponta, who reiterated the association's demand that the abducted student be rescued and reunited with her family without further delay.

The appeal comes amid growing concerns over the wave of kidnappings and violent attacks affecting parts of Edu Local Government Area and other communities across Kwara North in recent months.
