Fresh details have emerged following the suspected bandit attack that occurred on Monday evening in the Sodo/Sawmill area of Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
A NupekoTV team visited the affected area on Tuesday morning to assess the situation and gather firsthand accounts from residents and community members.

According to residents who spoke with NupekoTV, the attack took place at about 8:00 p.m. on Monday when armed men suspected to be bandits invaded Fulani settlements located around the Sodo axis, an area situated near the College of Education Technical, Lafiagi.

Community sources alleged that the attackers appeared to be targeting a Fulani leader popularly known as Wudere, identified by residents as the Sarkin Fulani of the area. However, the attackers reportedly did not find him at home during the operation.

Residents told NupekoTV that three members of Wudere's family were abducted during the attack before the gunmen retreated from the area.

According to eyewitness accounts, the situation took a tragic turn as the attackers were reportedly leaving the community. Residents alleged that the gunmen noticed lights coming from the residence of a Nupe man identified as Ndagba.

Sources said the armed men allegedly entered the compound and assaulted the victim before eventually shooting him. The attack reportedly resulted in his death.

Residents further claimed that the victim's daughter was abducted by the attackers before they fled the area.

The killing has sparked grief and outrage among members of the community, with many residents expressing fears over the deteriorating security situation in the area.

During interactions with the NupekoTV team, some residents alleged that the presence of Fulani settlements in the area had exposed the community to repeated security threats. They appealed to government authorities and security agencies to investigate the situation and take measures they believe would improve security and protect lives and property.

Community members also called for increased deployment of security personnel, enhanced surveillance, and proactive measures to prevent future attacks.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to release an official statement regarding the latest details provided by residents. The exact number of persons abducted and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain subject to ongoing investigation.
