EXCLUSIVE: "Save Us Before We Are Wiped Out" Lata Nna Leaders, Women and Chief Imam Cry Out to President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq and Patigi Chairman After Mass Displacement

Residents of Lata Nna Community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State have made an emotional appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Chairman of Patigi Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Rufai Ibrahim, to urgently come to their rescue following repeated attacks that have forced most residents to flee their homes.

In an exclusive video obtained by NupekoTV on Wednesday, July 16, 2026, community leaders, women and residents lamented their ordeal, describing how fear and insecurity have turned their once peaceful community into a shadow of itself.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Village Head of Lata Nna, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Lata, said the latest attacks, which occurred last Friday, triggered a mass exodus from the community.

According to him, about 95 percent of residents have abandoned their homes, while many families now sleep in bushes and neighbouring communities for fear of further attacks.

"We are appealing to the Federal Government, the Kwara State Government and the Patigi Local Government Council to urgently come to our aid. Our people are living in fear and uncertainty. Many have not returned home since the attacks," he said.

The traditional leader noted that beyond insecurity, the community faces serious challenges, including the absence of reliable telecommunications services, lack of a permanent security presence and the absence of a standard healthcare facility.

He explained that the poor network situation often leaves residents stranded during emergencies, while the lack of security personnel has exposed the community to repeated attacks.

Also speaking in the video, women from the community broke down in tears as they recounted how the attacks have shattered normal life in Lata Nna.

One of the affected women said she is now the only person remaining in her compound after other residents fled for safety.

Residents further disclosed that the few people who remain in the community no longer sleep in their homes. Instead, they move in groups to safer locations at night and return during the day out of fear of another attack.

The Chief Imam of the community also joined the appeal, calling on government authorities to act swiftly before the situation worsens.

The community is specifically requesting the deployment of adequate security personnel, the establishment of a permanent security post, improved telecommunications network coverage, construction or upgrading of a healthcare facility and the provision of relief materials for affected families.

The residents also appealed to humanitarian organisations, community leaders and well meaning Nigerians to support them during what they described as one of the most difficult periods in the history of the community.

"Our people deserve to live in peace, safety and dignity. We hope our cry for help will receive urgent attention before more lives and properties are lost," the Village Head added.
