 7.4-Magnitude Earthquake Kills 111 in Colombia

At least 111 people have been killed and dozens injured after a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia’s western Chocó region on Monday.

The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of about 107 kilometres, was felt across Colombia and in neighbouring Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama.

Several buildings reportedly collapsed, while rescue teams are working to free people trapped under the rubble.

Authorities are continuing rescue and damage-assessment operations as the situation develops.
