PATIGI LG COUNCIL RECEIVES NIGERIAN ARMY TEAM FOR NEWLY APPROVED BATTALION



The Executive Chairman of Patigi LGA and Madugu Rayankasa of Lade, Hon. Ahmed Adam Rufai, alongside members of the Patigi Local Government Council, today received a team of the Nigerian Army from the Office of the Chief of Army Staff in connection with the newly approved Nigerian Army Battalion in Patigi LGA.


The team was subsequently taken to the palace of His Royal Highness, (Dr.) Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, the Etsu Patigi and Vice Chairman, Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, for a royal courtesy visit.


Also present was a representative of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, led by the Special Adviser on Security, Hon. Muyideen Aliyu, as well as officials from the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), who were on ground to conduct surveys of the approved battalion site.


Hon. Rufai expressed his appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, for their continued efforts towards addressing the security challenges confronting Patigi LGA over the past year.


He particularly commended the President and the Governor for approving the establishment of the Army Battalion in Patigi, making the Local Government one of the four benefiting LGAs in Kwara State. He described the development as a significant step towards strengthening security and protecting the lives and property of the people of Patigi LGA. 


In his remarks, the Etsu Patigi, on behalf of the Patigi Emirate Council, also appreciated Mr. President and the Executive Governor of Kwara State for their commitment and sustained efforts towards tackling insecurity in the Local Government Area.


The battalion, which will also have sub-units strategically located in some major areas of Patigi LGA, is expected to further strengthen the security architecture of the Local Government Area, enhance the rapid response capabilities of security agencies, and provide greater protection for the people and communities.


The team leader, Major General O. D. Williams, thanked the Executive Chairman and the Etsu Patigi for the warm reception accorded the team. He assured the people of Patigi LGA of the timely deployment of the battalion, following the inspection and survey of the approved site.
