ICPC Uncovers New Fake Agency in SGF’s Office, Tinubu Orders Arrest and Suspension of Three Permanent Secretaries
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze following the discovery of a new alleged fake government agency operating within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) identified the newly uncovered office as the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office.
ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, disclosed the development while briefing State House correspondents after meeting with the President.
According to the commission, the office was allegedly allocated space within the premises of the OSGF without presidential authorisation.
The discovery was made during the ongoing investigation into alleged fake government agencies and weaknesses in Nigeria’s public service system.
The ICPC alleged that Nwabueze, who is believed to have operated under different variations of his name, was responsible for promoting the agency. The commission also said it suspected that some collaborators within the public service might have assisted the operation.
Following the briefing, President Tinubu ordered the immediate arrest of Nwabueze and the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries identified as M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
The President also ordered a broader investigation into the circumstances that allowed the alleged fake office to operate within a government facility.
The latest development comes after the earlier discovery of the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, which had triggered an investigation into possible loopholes in government verification and administrative procedures.
The ICPC says its investigation is still ongoing as authorities continue to examine how unauthorised entities were allegedly able to operate within government structures.
The new discovery has raised serious concerns about accountability, internal verification and the effectiveness of Nigeria’s public service system.
