Lata Nna Community Appreciates Military Efforts, Renews Call for Permanent Security Presence to End Recurring Attacks

The people of Lata Nna community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State have expressed appreciation to security forces for their continued efforts in responding to security threats in the area while renewing their appeal for the establishment of a permanent military presence in the community.

In a statement issued made available to NupekoTv, residents specifically commended personnel stationed at the military camp in Gada, the military base in Gbugbu and the military formation in Ndanaku for what they described as their tireless commitment to maintaining peace and responding to distress calls from the community.

The community pledged its full cooperation with security agencies, assuring the troops of continued support whenever the need arises.

"On behalf of Lata Nna community, we sincerely appreciate the military camp at Gada, the military base at Gbugbu as well as the military personnel at Ndanaku for their tireless efforts towards ensuring peace in our community. We pledge to give them maximum cooperation at all times," the statement read.

Despite the appreciation, the residents noted that the current security arrangement is insufficient to effectively protect the community due to the long distances separating Lata Nna from the existing military formations.

According to them, security personnel often have to travel considerable distances before reaching the community whenever attacks occur, a situation worsened by poor telecommunications network, making it difficult to place emergency distress calls promptly.

The community stressed that these challenges have continued to expose residents to repeated attacks by armed criminals, leading to growing fear among villagers.

They therefore appealed to the Federal Government, the Nigerian military and other relevant authorities to establish a permanent military base or deploy troops to Lata Nna to ensure rapid response to security threats and prevent further attacks.

Residents argued that having security personnel stationed within the community would significantly improve response time, strengthen intelligence gathering and serve as a deterrent to criminal elements.

The renewed appeal comes amid increasing concerns over recurring attacks in Lata Nna, where community leaders have repeatedly called on the authorities to strengthen security architecture and prevent further loss of lives and property.

Community members said while they remain grateful to the military formations in Gada, Gbugbu and Ndanaku for their sacrifices, lasting peace can only be achieved through a permanent security presence within Lata Nna itself.
