Our Relative Has Been Abandoned’: Lata Nna Residents Cry Out as Kidnappers Threaten to Kill Victim Tomorrow

Residents of Lata Nna community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State have called on the Kwara State Government and security agencies to urgently intervene and rescue their relative abducted by suspected kidnappers, accusing the authorities of failing to do enough as the victim faces a threat to his life.
The appeal comes after the abductors reportedly threatened to kill the victim if a ransom demand is not met before 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026.

The victim, identified as Mohammed Abubakar Ndakpada, was abducted on Thursday, July 30, at about 11:00 a.m. after arriving at his farm in the community.

NupekoTV had earlier reported that the kidnappers contacted one of the victim’s brothers at about 5:00 p.m. on the day of the incident using the victim’s phone and demanded N100 million as ransom.

The demand was later reportedly reduced to N50 million following negotiations and pleas from the family.

However, the situation has now become more critical, with the abductors allegedly issuing a deadline and threatening to kill the victim if the ransom is not paid.

Residents of Lata Nna are therefore calling on the Kwara State Government, security agencies and other relevant authorities to urgently come to the aid of the family and secure the safe release of the abducted resident.

The residents said they are particularly worried that the authorities have yet to secure the victim’s release despite the seriousness of the threat, with the kidnappers allegedly giving the family until 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, August 14, to pay the ransom or risk losing him.

Residents are therefore demanding urgent action from the government and security agencies to locate the abductors and rescue the victim before the deadline, stressing that every available security resource should be deployed to prevent the threat from being carried out.

The appeal comes against the backdrop of recent coordinated security operations in the state that resulted in the rescue of many kidnapped victims, raising hopes among residents that a similar urgent intervention can be mounted in the Lata Nna case.

The community is also appealing for sustained security presence in Lata Nna and neighbouring communities, which have continued to face attacks and kidnapping threats.

The family is meanwhile appealing to the authorities and members of the public to assist in securing the victim’s safe release, as fears grow over the reported threat against his life.
