ASUU Begins Indefinite Strike Across 3 Lagos State Universities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a total and indefinite strike across three Lagos State-owned universities, bringing academic activities at the institutions to a halt.

The affected institutions are the Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).

The union’s decision followed the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the Lagos State Government over unresolved demands. ASUU said the government failed to provide a satisfactory response before the deadline.

Among the issues at the centre of the dispute is the union’s demand for the implementation of provisions contained in the December 2025 ASUU-Federal Government agreement, including welfare-related provisions for academic staff.

ASUU said the strike would continue indefinitely until meaningful engagement with the Lagos State Government leads to the resolution of the outstanding issues.

The development has left students across the three institutions facing uncertainty over lectures and other academic activities, as stakeholders await further developments.
