The Federal Government has announced plans to provide eligible Nigerian students with 100 megabytes of free internet data every day, beginning from October 1, 2026.

The initiative is aimed at improving students’ access to digital learning resources and educational content as the government continues to promote technology-driven education in the country.

Under the proposed arrangement, students are expected to use the daily data allocation to access approved educational websites and other learning platforms.

The programme is reportedly expected to benefit about five million students across the country, providing them with additional support for online research, learning materials and other academic activities.

The government believes the initiative will help reduce the challenges students face in accessing internet-based educational resources, particularly those who may struggle with the cost of mobile data.

The daily allocation is scheduled to commence on October 1, subject to the implementation arrangements put in place by the relevant government agencies.
