KWASAA Warns Against Unauthorized Political Billboards in Kwara

The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) has warned political parties, aspirants and their supporters against erecting political billboards across the state without obtaining the necessary approval from the agency.

The warning was issued by the Acting General Manager of KWASAA, Toba Adeyeye, during an inspection and engagement visit to Kwara South on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Adeyeye said political advertisers were required to comply with the state's signage regulations before installing campaign billboards or other political advertisements in public spaces.

He explained that the measure was aimed at ensuring proper regulation of outdoor advertisements and preventing the indiscriminate erection of billboards across the state.

The agency also announced plans to hold a stakeholders' engagement forum in April to educate political parties, aspirants and other relevant stakeholders on the requirements and procedures for obtaining approval for political advertisements.

KWASAA urged political actors to cooperate with the agency and comply with the applicable regulations, stressing the importance of securing approval before erecting political billboards.

The warning comes ahead of increased political activities in Kwara as political parties and aspirants intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
