Motorists Advised to Avoid Ibrahim Taiwo Road After Accident Involving Gas Cylinders, Petroleum

Motorists have been advised to avoid parts of Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Ilorin, Kwara State, following a road accident involving two vehicles.

According to reports, one of the vehicles was carrying several 50-kilogramme cooking gas cylinders, while the other was reportedly leaking petroleum, creating fears of a possible fire outbreak at the scene.

The Kwara State Fire Service urged motorists travelling from Baboko, Surulere, Adewole and surrounding areas towards Ibrahim Taiwo Road to seek alternative routes, particularly around the Stadium Complex Gate and the frontage of Bekki & Sons Limited.

The agency warned that the presence of highly inflammable materials at the accident scene could pose serious risks to motorists, pedestrians and other road users.

Drivers using the opposite lane were also advised to slow down, remain vigilant and comply with directives from emergency responders at the scene.

The public was further urged to keep a safe distance from the accident location and avoid unnecessary gatherings that could hinder emergency operations or expose people to danger.
