The former Governing Council Chairman of the National Health Insurance Authority, Senator (Dr.) Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has on Thursday April 9th, 2026, declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State, positioning his candidacy on the pillars of experience, competence, and proven capacity for service delivery.
The declaration, which took place before party stalwarts and stakeholders from across the state, also featured attendees from all local government areas and wards, alongside supporters from various segments of society.
In his speech, Oloriegbe emphasised that leadership at this stage of Kwara’s development requires prepared minds, structured thinking, and tested judgment, warning against experimentation and uncoordinated governance.
Drawing from his background as a medical doctor, administrator, and former lawmaker, he highlighted his experience in healthcare, policy development, and institutional leadership as critical assets for effective governance
He noted that his journey—from early personal challenges, including the loss of his mother, to his professional and public service career—has shaped his empathy and reinforced his belief in people-centred leadership.
The senator unveiled his policy document as a formal pact with Kwarans, detailing his agenda across security, economic growth, healthcare, and social inclusion, while emphasising that governance must be driven by execution rather than improvisation.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of documentaries and testimonials, showcasing his track record of impact and the experiences of individuals and communities that have benefited from his interventions
Oloriegbe reaffirmed that his ambition is not about contesting past leadership but about building on existing progress with greater structure, efficiency, and measurable results.
