The Executive Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, Hon. Lukman Olayinka, has assured residents of Abudu Community in Apado Ward that security agencies are making concerted efforts to secure the safe release of victims abducted during a kidnapping incident that occurred on Tuesday night.
According to Just Event Online TV (JEO TV),the council chairman gave the assurance during a sympathy and security assessment visit to the affected community, where he met with families of the victims and other residents.
Hon. Olayinka disclosed that the abducted victims were identified as two young men, Wasiu and Jamiu, alongside a pregnant woman, Amidah. He also revealed that the kidnappers allegedly carted away more than ₦4 million belonging to Wasiu and his mother, proceeds reportedly generated from their charcoal business.
The chairman said he visited the community alongside personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and members of the Forest Guards, who eassured residents of their commitment to rescuing the victims and restoring security in the area.
Addressing members of the community, Hon. Olayinka expressed sympathy with the affected families and stated that all available security resources had been mobilised to facilitate the safe rescue of those in captivity.
He further disclosed that local vigilantes in Ilorin East commenced search operations immediately after the incident was reported and are working closely with the Police, DSS, Forest Guards, and other security agencies to track down the perpetrators and secure the victims' release.
The council chairman reaffirmed that his administration, in collaboration with the Kwara State Government and relevant security agencies, remains committed to protecting lives and property across communities within Ilorin East Local Government Area.
He appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist ongoing rescue operations.
Hon. Olayinka also reiterated his administration's commitment to strengthening community-based security initiatives and supporting lawful security operations to prevent future incidents.
He expressed optimism that the abducted victims would be rescued safely and that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.
