ASKOMP Applauds Gov. AbdulRazaq's Immediate Intervention After Journalists' Road Accident

Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), has paid the medical bills of four journalists who sustained injuries in a road accident along the Alapa-Efue road in Asa Local Government Area of the state and also provided them with cash support to aid their recovery.

The journalists were involved in the accident on Sunday while travelling in a Toyota Sienna to Alapa for an official assignment. The crash occurred at Adabata, Efue, in Asa Local Government Area, leaving the occupants with minor injuries.

The affected journalists are Aiyelabegan Babatunde Abdulrasaq of Just Event Online Publications (JEO), Saeed Tijjani of 9jaParrot, Umar Umar of Trove Online Media, and Isiaq Sulyman Kayode of Trove Online Media.

Following the incident, the injured journalists were rushed to the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH), Ilorin, where they received medical attention.

The Governor's intervention was conveyed by his Senior Special Assistant on Communications, Ibraheem Abdullateef, who visited the journalists at the hospital to deliver the Governor's message and confirm that all their medical expenses had been settled. The intervention was facilitated by the former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and APC House of Representatives candidate, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye.

Meanwhile, the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) has expressed profound appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq for his prompt response and support for its members.

In a statement issued on Sunday, ASKOMP Chairman, Salihu Shola Taofeek, described the Governor's gesture as compassionate and timely, noting that it reflects his administration's commitment to the welfare of media practitioners in the state.

"We sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for standing by our members involved in today's motor accident by clearing their medical bills and providing cash support. This gesture further demonstrates that the Governor is media-friendly, compassionate, and deeply concerned about the wellbeing of journalists in Kwara State," the statement read.

ASKOMP also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured journalists and commended the Governor for his swift intervention at a critical moment.
