BREAKING: Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi Land Dies Days After Regaining Freedom From Kidnappers
NupekoTV reports that His Royal Majesty, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Onigbesi of Igbesi Land, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State has died days after regaining his freedom from kidnappers.
The traditional ruler was abducted on August 22, 2026, and regained his freedom five days later.
His death was announced on Saturday, September 12, 2026, by the National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Comrade Bisi Fakayode.
According to the announcement, the monarch died on Saturday morning.
Fakayode expressed sadness over the death of the traditional ruler and prayed for the repose of his soul.
The development comes amid continued insecurity across parts of the country, where civilians are being killed, kidnapped and displaced by criminal groups. Traditional rulers and community leaders have also increasingly found themselves exposed to attacks, with some abducted or killed while carrying out their responsibilities within their communities.
The recurring attacks have left families grieving and communities living in fear, while raising renewed concerns over the safety of residents and traditional institutions in affected areas.
