"We Need More Cars and Equipment to Fight Crime," Says Kwara CP

The Kwara State Police Command has called for additional operational vehicles and modern security equipment to strengthen its capacity to prevent crime and respond effectively to security challenges across the state.

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, made the call during an operational inspection visit by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 8 Headquarters, Lokoja, Betty Otimenyin, to the command in Ilorin.

Adekimi identified operational vehicles, Armoured Personnel Carriers, communication facilities and surveillance equipment among the major areas requiring additional support. He said providing the needed resources would improve the command’s ability to respond promptly to security threats and sustain effective policing across the state.

The commissioner said the command had continued to deploy intelligence-led policing, strategic deployment and visibility patrols as part of efforts to tackle criminal activities. He added that personnel training was also being sustained to improve officers’ professional competence and operational effectiveness.

The AIG commended the command for its preparedness and firearms proficiency training, urging officers to translate their improved operational capacity into better security for residents. She also cautioned personnel against extortion, intimidation and abuse of authority.

With political activities expected to increase ahead of the 2027 general elections, Otimenyin charged officers to remain professional, neutral and apolitical while maintaining law and order and protecting citizens across the state.
