Windstorm Tears Through Nearly Completed Lafiagi Stadium, Sets Project Back

A heavy windstorm has destroyed a section of the pavilion at the nearly completed Lafiagi Stadium in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident occurred at a critical stage of the project, with the stadium reportedly approaching completion and preparations underway for its eventual handover to the government.

The affected section of the pavilion sustained significant damage, raising concerns over the additional work and resources that may now be required to restore the structure.

The setback is also expected to affect the project timeline, with the contractors reportedly facing an estimated 15 per cent setback in the execution of the project as a result of the windstorm.

The extent of the damage and the steps being taken by the contractors and relevant authorities to repair the affected section remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
