Kwara Commissioner Accused of Seeking Teacher’s Dismissal Over Alleged Insult, Support for Opposition Party

A teacher from Lade community in Kwara State, Comrade Alfa Suleiman, has alleged that the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Yunusa Usman Lade, sought to instigate the termination of his appointment over an alleged insult and his participation in politics.

Suleiman made the allegation in a public statement and provided a copy of a query issued to him by the Kwara State Government. He alleged that the matter was politically motivated and connected to his purported partisan political activities.

The query letter, dated October 26, 2026, was titled “Query Letter on Alleged Partisan Political Activities.”

Suleiman also alleged that he had faced threats and intimidation in connection with the matter. These claims could not be independently verified.

“I wish to state clearly that I, Comrade Alfa Suleiman, stand by my right to freedom of expression. Political office is transient,” he said.

He said public office should not be used to resolve personal or political disputes and urged the authorities to address the matter in accordance with applicable law and administrative procedures.

Suleiman said he remained confident in the justice system and called on residents of Kwara State to follow the case. He said he would continue to pursue what he described as his rights despite the alleged intimidation.

“Let justice and due process prevail. No amount of intimidation will make me abandon my rights,” he stated.

The teacher said terminating his appointment without adequate justification could raise concerns about fairness and accountability in the management of public-sector employment.

As of the time of filing this report, the allegations had not been independently verified. Neither Commissioner Yunusa Usman Lade nor the Kwara State Government had publicly responded to the claims.
