The MOK Foundation has commenced the construction of a motorised, solar-powered borehole in Likofu community, Patigi Ward IV, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, following appeals over years of persistent water scarcity.

Likofu, located about three kilometres from Patigi town, has endured a prolonged water crisis. Findings revealed that the community's three existing boreholes are all non-functional, while its traditional well, constructed in 1967, has dried up, leaving residents struggling to access potable water.

Despite several appeals for government intervention, the community's water challenge remained unresolved for years.

However, attention was drawn to the situation after community leaders circulated a Save-Our-Souls appeal published by NupekoTV on social media. The appeal gained further traction following its amplification by Baba Idris, who, through the ABS Foundation, facilitated the repair of a hand-pump borehole.

Although residents welcomed the intervention, they maintained that a single hand-pump borehole was insufficient to meet the water needs of the entire community.

Following the viral appeal and subsequent interventions by Baba Idris and Engr. Aliyu Yusuf, who served as the contact person, the MOK Foundation, led by its Founder, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, responded by mobilising to the community and commencing work on a fully motorised, solar-powered borehole.

Community leaders described the intervention as timely and significant, expressing appreciation to the foundation for responding to their long-standing water needs.

Upon completion, the project is expected to provide a more reliable and sustainable source of clean water for hundreds of households, easing the burden on residents who have struggled with water scarcity for decades.

Residents have continued to offer prayers for Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode and the MOK Foundation, while commending the organisation for its humanitarian interventions across Kwara State.
