Take It Back Movement Notifies Police, other security agencies of Planned Protest Over Woro Kidnap Victims

The Take It Back (TIB) Movement has formally notified the Kwara State Police Command of its intention to stage a peaceful protest demanding the rescue of victims abducted during the attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to a notification addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, the protest is scheduled to hold on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. along Ahmadu Bello Way, Ilorin.

The letter, signed by Musa Tsaragi on behalf of the Take It Back Movement, stated that the demonstration is aimed at expressing dissatisfaction over what the group described as the government's failure to secure the release of over 170 Woro captives as well as the persistent wave of killings and insecurity affecting communities in Kwara North.

The movement assured the police that the planned demonstration would be peaceful and pledged to maintain law and order throughout the exercise.

It also appealed to security agencies to provide adequate security for participants to ensure a hitch-free protest.

Copies of the notification were also addressed to the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kwara State, and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command.

The planned protest comes months after the deadly attack on Woro community, during which scores of residents were reportedly killed while many others, including women and children, were abducted by armed attackers.

Families of the abducted victims and concerned stakeholders have continued to call for intensified efforts by the government and security agencies to secure the release of those still in captivity and restore peace to affected communities.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the Kwara State Police Command regarding the notification submitted by the movement.
