Niger State Police Debunk Reports of School Attacks, Assure Public of Safety
The Niger State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading recent reports alleging attacks on schools in Bosso, Kpakungu, Sabon-Wuse, and Lambata areas of the Niger state.
In a press release issued on June 10, 2026, the Command clarified that thorough assessments and visits to all the schools mentioned confirmed that no such attacks occurred anywhere within the state.
The Police described the reports as the handiwork of mischief makers aimed at creating panic and fear among residents, particularly within school communities. Authorities have urged members of the public to disregard the information and avoid spreading unverified claims.
Meanwhile, the Command has launched an intelligence-driven investigation to trace the origin of the false reports, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, had earlier directed Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to strengthen collaboration with school administrators as part of ongoing school protection initiatives. He also reaffirmed that police visibility patrols have been intensified around educational institutions to ensure the safety of students, staff, and surrounding communities.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or security concerns through the following emergency contacts: 0703 196 4389, 0803 223 3454, and 0916 880 2621.
The Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security across Niger State and advised the public to rely only on verified information from official sources.
